In the context of the EUN-NET research activities, the AUEB team was assigned the task of compiling a Data Set of the EU activities in the UN General Assembly (UNGA). For the needs of this task, two kinds of data have been gathered: first, the oral interventions of the EU and member-states in the discussions held at the UNGA Committees and the Plenary and second, the voting record of EU member-states in them. The first kind of data comprises the EU official interventions either by the rotating Presidency of the Council, representatives of the European External Action Service, the EU Delegation in New York or any other official explicitly mentioning that (s)he speaks on behalf of the European Union.
The gathered data have a ten-year time span, from September 2009 (64th Session) to July 2018 (72nd Session). It covers the period right after the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty, the crucial period around the passing of Resolution 65/276 that offered the EU the ‘enhanced observer’ status at UNGA, the transitional period right after the surrounding turbulence, and the solidification period up to 2018.
The data is available upon request. Please contact Ass. Prof. Spyros Blavoukos for more info at email@example.com
